As artificial intelligence continues to advance rapidly, questions about the future of work, job displacement, and human relevance have become central to global conversations. In a recent interview on Telemundo, Dr. Eduardo Atencio Bravo, specialist in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation and faculty member at Alen South Lake University, addressed these concerns with clarity, insight, and a human-centered perspective.
During the interview, Dr. Atencio emphasized that recent technological disruptions and platform failures should not be seen as “AI replacing humans,” but rather as reminders that artificial intelligence is sustained, guided, and monitored by human structures. According to him, these moments serve as an alert — not a shutdown — highlighting the urgent need for professionals to develop the skills required to effectively integrate with AI systems. Reflecting the academic approach at Alen South Lake University, where programs emphasize not only the technical understanding of artificial intelligence, but also the development of critical thinking, ethical awareness, and practical application. By focusing on how humans and AI work together, ASLU prepares students to lead and adapt in environments where technology and human judgment must coexist.
“We are not going to be replaced. Artificial intelligence depends on human structures to support it, guide it, and ensure its proper oversight”
— Dr. Eduardo Atencio Bravo
Dr. Atencio acknowledged the anxiety many professionals feel about automation and job displacement, noting that while some routine tasks may change or disappear, technology historically creates more opportunities than it eliminates. Citing data from the World Economic Forum, he explained that by 2030, approximately 79 million new jobs are expected to emerge — many of which do not yet exist and will require new or reactivated skill sets.
Rather than focusing on job loss, Dr. Atencio reframed the conversation around reskilling and adaptability. He stressed that success in this new ecosystem does not require everyone to become a programmer or technical expert. Instead, professionals must learn how to use AI as a practical, instrumental tool while strengthening uniquely human capabilities such as decision-making, interpretation, ethical judgment, and strategic thinking.
When asked how individuals can prepare for this new era, Dr. Atencio outlined a clear and practical roadmap. He encouraged professionals to begin by conducting an honest inventory of their current skills, identifying gaps based on market demand, and designing a progressive development path. Beyond technical knowledge, he highlighted the importance of ethical awareness, purpose-driven use of AI, and intentional application aligned with professional goals.
Dr. Atencio concluded the interview with a powerful reminder: displacement is not inevitable — it occurs only when individuals choose not to evolve.
“The only ones who will displace ourselves are those who choose not to develop the skills the market demands.”
— Dr. Eduardo Atencio Bravo
